I don't think I can describe how much I love Power Walking - Nothing beats it.. Apart from maybe a good hard weights session however walking to me is a release.. I sail away into my thoughts and think about my goals, dreams and anything else happening in and around my life.. Its a time where I get away to another place, where I can forget all the stresses happening, where I can breathe in fresh air and just watch and observe what is going on around me. It is a time where I can burn those extra calories without knowing I am doing it..
Everyone has their passion however, I truly have to say - how can everyone not want to go out walking.. how can people want to be lazy and choose to sit on their butt all day and not go out into the fresh air to get some brisk walking into their day. Why would you bother making excuses to others as to why you didn't get exercise today, when they only person who is missing out is you.. as if the person next to you really cares if you were lazy today - they only person you are doing harm to is yourself.. so do yourself a favour today - especially if you are in Melbourne and go and get outside and just walk.. doesn't have to be fast - but take in everything around you.. breathe in the fresh crisp air - enjoy the Vitamin D and just take yourself to a place of calm!
If everyone Incorporated a bit more walking into their day, perhaps we wouldn't all be such an obese nation, of course, same goes with if we could all just down size our portions and eat more clean with more fresh vegetables, lean proteins and fruit there would be less winging about how fat or shitty we feel. There would be less blame, perfect example being the stupid Government lately and how they are blaming TV ads and upsizing and everything else for obesity - give me a break - it is no one Else's fault but the person in speaking.. the person who chooses to shovel McDonald's and Pizza into their mouth, the person who chooses to watch TV rather than get 30 minutes of exercise a day. The person who chooses to drink alcohol more than once a week in copious amounts then eat a mountain of oil slicked take away the day after because they feel so shit, the person who chooses to sleep in rather than get some physical exercise before they go to work so they don't have to make excuses later in the day... its all about choice.. always has been...
Alot of people say to me gee you are disciplined, how do you do what you do etc... well easy answer to an easy question - I am not disciplined, I am simply choosing to live a healthy lifestyle, and to feel my best and look my best so I don't have to go through life having regrets wishing later in life I had have strived for better. I choose to go walking every day and do weights 4 days a week because that's what our body needs to stay strong and live a long life... I refuse to get sick later in life due to inactivity.. I see many people around me just like that and quite frankly - what a poor quality of life, I choose to still be doing weights when i am going on 60years old, because I know it is possible to have a body of a 16 year old at 60 - despite what most sedentary people think.. once again making excuses for their poor quality of life due to giving up on physical activity too early.. A perfect example - check out this youtube click of this amazing 72 year old man who has a better body than most 18 year guys.. now you tell me if the weights room is bad for you !

This is a way of living and if we don't look after ourselves no-one else will..
Have a sensational "Hump Day" and go enjoy the good things in life.. they are free and all you need is to put one foot in front of the other !
ENJOY xoxox

Hi Victoria
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed your post !
I too lapped up the brisk morning with the sun shining ! I generally power walk as well, and really love it at this time of year and winter...I love the feeling of warming up but still having cold cheeks...weird but true...I hit the 1,000 steps today (not sure if you have been there) anyway, had a blasting session !
Here's to the great Melbourne Autumn days, good weight training and powerwalking !! ;-)
